Rich and intense with sweet layers of bittersweet chocolate, licorice, and smoke complimented by a heavy earthy body and smooth finish.

High in the mountains of southern Ethiopia, amidst a dense overstory of plantains, acacia, and mango, the farmers of the Sidama Farmers Cooperative Union grow exquisite heirloom coffee varietals.

In recent decades, traditional methods of coffee processing have been pushed aside by buyers looking for a standardized, more predictable coffee flavor. We’ve worked with the cooperative to return to their traditional “natural” method where the tart skin and sweet flesh of the fruit are sun-dried like a raisin onto the coffee bean. The result recaptures the wild complexity—rich port-like sweetness, syrupy body, and an intense berry flavor—that has made these coffees famous the world over for centuries.
