Mocha Java Loved it
From Jerry of Chicago, Illinois on .
Very happy with the entire experience. I purchased the Mocha Java and loved the taste. In reference to Michael R’s 2/9/2021 review, I found the lack of bitterness to be one of the outstanding elements of the taste. The Mocha Java is a medium roast and it states it on the packaging and this aligns with my preferences.
I followed the advice of Buddhi 11/5/2020 with the exception of the magnesium and calcium water conditioning (no coffee snob badge for me). I was able to pick up on the sweet-savory . . .
As Good as it Gets
From Jeff B of SAN FRANCISCO, California on .
perfect balance between floral birght sour acidity and earthy muddled spices. True medium roast, toward the lighter end of Agtron scale (55 bean) - it's a perfectly balanced, fresh, and flavorful coffee that is better than most single origins. Put this in the spaceship for aliens to see what the term coffee meant.
As Good as it Gets
From Jeff B. of SAN FRANCISCO, California on .
Found from a review on YouTube and then on Coffeereview.com A true medium roast on the lighter side of that spectrum, however the earthy combo of the Java and the bright floral notes of the Ethiopian achieve a lightness yet fullness of flavor and body with a balanced acidity. I think this defines the middle space of the varying flavor profiles that define coffees, and is essentially what should in the time capsule container for "what is coffee?" it's perfect.
Disappointing
From Michael Rizzo of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on .
I saw the 96 rating on Coffee Review for the Mocha Java so I purchased 1 bag along with bags of both Ethiopian offerings and the Kenyan. I was very disappointed with all of them. Advertised as light roast but they were more medium than light. All had a bitter taste with none of the taste notes as advertised. Unfortunately, I brewed only one cup from each of my purchases and will not be brewing another from any of them. I know this sounds harsh, but It was really that bad.
Nice

I brew this a bit strong and it is quite satisfying. I drink American style coffee black and my test is can I drink it once cooled? Yes. Good balance of bitterness, acidity. Aroma is nice.

Youtube rabbit hole
From Tang of Pequannock, New Jersey on .
One of my few rabbit hole purchases during quarantine, after watching hours of coffee channels on YouTube and purchasing a high quality hand grinder, italian stovetop coffee maker, I found mocha java through coffee reviews. Rated highly and looking to experience some coffee snobbery, not sure if I can appreciate as much as those editors but I do know it's a great cup. ( No real experience in coffee beyond diner coffee, dunkin, starbx)I went w the 5lbs, intimidating at first, now glad I have it!
Excellent!

This coffee scored high so I tried it. One of the best I have ever tasted.
One of the Best
From Buddhi of Boston, Massachusetts on .
I'm a coffee snob and proud of it. This cheap coffee is as good as my regular $88/lb Kona. The secrets are 205 degree water, 4 min dwell, one notch finer than medium grind, and making sure your water is pure and also conditioned with magnesium and calcium. Do that and you taste the floral notes with the chocolate. No bitterness either.
It's a good coffee
From Marcia Bates of Fort Wayne, Indiana on .
The Mocha Java is a good coffee. Dominantly, it's aromatically floral with chocolate overtones and raspberry undertones. The beans look evenly roasted and the packaging kept it fresh. An Aeropress brew brings out a good body on this coffee.
Not enough "oomph"
From DRVee of Sierra Vista, Arizona on .
We were hoping for lots of flavors, and after winning the big prize, we wanted to be blown away, but weren't. It is a nice coffee, but I guess we go more for a Vienna roast.
Good Buzz
From Anonymous of New Rochelle, New York on .
My first purchase included four medium roasts: Mocha Java, Paul's Blend, Dutch Chocolate, and Hazelnut. I'm not a coffee snob. But I do enjoy a good cup of coffee. It helps me concentrate. I look forward to trying MacCallum House Blend and Northern Italian Espresso in the near future.
In the post-pandemic world, I'll be introducing Thanksgiving Coffee to guests. It will make me look smarter than I am.
Full bodied Awesome coffee
From Anonymous of Scottsdale, Arizona on .
This coffee was very smooth and gave me various flavors. It becomes even more flavorful as it cools off. I had notes of Honey Graham cracker and brown sugar! The combination of Indonesian and Ethiopia coffee never disappoints! Love the Mocha Java

I've just re-ordered for the 2nd time. Only wish this was sold in one-pound bags.
I'm on a limited income nearing 80 years of age and my finances take a hit buying 12 ounce bags.

Excellent Coffee
From Brandon Smith of Twin Falls, Idaho on .
My wife and I like to try different varieties of coffee and very rarely do we order the same coffee more than once; this is not one of those occasions. We both enjoyed this roast so much that we had to get seconds. Thank you for sharing such a delicious/quality/ethical product.
Delicious

Am enjoying Mocha Java everyday during Lockdown with half and half. Have only had one Cappucino in 3 months.
A Winner
From Mack of Ladera Ranch, California on .
I'm a confessed coffee snob. As someone who started drinking 'real coffee' back in the late 70's from 1st, Carl Diedrich, and then his son Martin, I'm so happy I stumbled upon Thanksgiving Coffee. This version of Mocha Java was delicious whether I made it in a french press or Chemex. Rich, chocolaty and earthy. I'll be back for more!
Surprisingly satisfying

This could easily be my daily “go to” coffee.

Great coffee. I took a leap of faith and purchased the 5lb bag. It was worth it. I recommend it.
Great
From Anonymous of Whittier, California on .
This is the best Mocha Java that I have had and I have been ordering Mocha Java from roasters all over the country for many years. It well deserves the 96 rating it received from Coffee Reviews. After I tried it, I immediately ordered another bag and gave it to my daughter and her husband who also thought it was outstanding. [Full disclosure: we both use the Aeropress as our preferred brewing method and haven't tried it as a pour over.]
My Favorite
From Myla of Cedaredge, Colorado on .
I found Thanksgiving Coffee on my move from Oregon To Colorado. I stopped in Mendocino over night and had coffee in the morning. Most wonderful cup I had ever had. Mocha Java is my favorite. I have tried many. I like the touch of chocolate and I like my coffee strong. I live on Social Security. Thanksgiving Coffee is my treat to myself.

great aroma upon opening the air tight package. Greater aroma brewed. The taste is amazing mild flavor. I have found a new love to add to my collection
An Old Favorite
From Paul of Sharon, Massachusetts on .
I really love this coffee and Thanksgiving does a great job with it. Nice beans and a perfect roast. Mocha Java was an early favorite when "good" coffee began to appear years/decades ago. It is nice to revisit this blend once again. Highly recommend this!
Very good blend
From Alexander Elder of Anna, Texas on .
This is a delicious tasting coffee deserving of its 96 rating. Works well brewed with both french press and expresso methods. Pour Over seemed weak in comparison with a noticeable lack of flavor nuance. Is close to perfection served as a latte.
Smooth
From JASON Wentzel of Crosby, Texas on .
Smooth as silk, you cannot go wrong with this choice of deliciousness. Fast shipping and Fresh Beans a winner all the way around.
Middle and bass notes,
From Ron Blachman of Richmond, California on .
This medium-roast has reich, deep coffee aromas with a hint of tropical-jungle-funk. Threre are berry notes an a hint of fresh-baked brownies. Good, rich flavors.
